History of Champions League Final

The UEFA Champions League is a seasonal association football competition recognized in 1956. The UEFA Champions League is unwrap to the league champions of all UEFA member associations (except Liechtenstein, which has no league competition), as well as to the clubs concluding from second to fourth position in the good leagues. Previously to the 1992–93 seasons, the competition was named the European Cup. initially, only the champions of their individual national league could participate in the tournament; however, this was changed in 1997 to allow the runners-up of the stronger leagues to fight as well. Real Madrid won the opening competition in the 1956 European Cup Final.

Real Madrid holds the record for the most conquest, winning the tournament nine times since its inception. They have also won the competition the most times in a row, winning it five times from 1956 to 1960. The current winners are Manchester United who beat Chelsea 6–5 in a penalty shootout after the 2008 Final finished 1–1 after extra time
